Bear Creek Trail is a leisurely five mile out and back trail that culminates at the beautiful Bear Creek Falls and starts off the main drag of Telluride. As we began to get acclimated before some of the longer hikes this was the perfect way to get our mountain legs underneath us.
The path starts somewhat steep surrounded by trees and birds chirping. Shortly after starting we passed by a beautiful green bird dancing on the trail that followed us for a little bit prior to finding new friends to walk with.
Upon exiting the woods the trail opened up and provided the first sights of the San Juan Mountains. Bear Creek flows on the left and we enjoyed listening to the water flow as we kept walking upward. Of course, we had to step for a few photos in the creek and splash the snowmelt on our faces.
A little over two miles after starting at the trailhead we reached the falls where we took some time to relax and enjoy the spray. There are few things more enjoyable than breathing in the mountain air with the one you love after a stroll through the woods. Bear Creek is a perfect trail to acclimate to the altitude and we had a wonderful time on this warm up.
